After a great year of inspiring prayer events and a continued emphasis on praying for spiritual revival, Community Prayer Partners will continue to focus in 2012 on praying together for our governments, families and churches.

We’ll take a short break for the holidays, so we’ll not meet on December 22nd or 29th. But after that we’ll meet weekly on Thursday mornings at 8:00 AM at Mt Zion Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana (211 Mt. Zion Street).

At these meetings we’re focusing on praying together in unity (several denominations participate) and asking for mainly one thing – that God will grant our area a continuing, amazing spiritual revival. We’re seeing wonderful signs that He is answering our prayers!

Our group consists of pastors, lay people and business leaders - you’re welcome to join us and help pray for revival in Northeast Louisiana.

At these meetings we’re focusing on praying together in unity and asking for mainly one thing – that God will grant our area a continuing, amazing spiritual revival. We’re seeing wonderful signs that He is answering our prayers!

Our National Day of Prayer Breakfast set for ULM campus

We’ve finalized plans for our upcoming annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast - It will be held at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the ULM campus on Thursday, May 5th at 6:30 AM (breakfast serving begins at 6:15). You can get a map of the campus at http://www.ulm.edu/map.

Our theme this year is “Being A Catalyst For Revival”.

Please begin now to help spread the word about this wonderful event. Tickets are available ($10.00 each which includes breakfast); just contact Dale Walker at or Keith Roberts at .

Community Prayer Partners Forges Inspiring New Vision for 2011

Here’s a special update on changes to Community Prayer Partners for the coming year:

The steering committee for Community Prayer Partners, having spent time praying and seeking God for CPP Vision for 2011, feels directed to get back to our original purpose; PRAYING TOGETHER IS OUR TOP PRIORITY.

We will intercede about the issues that need to be addressed in NE Louisiana. We will pray together weekly in order to receive direction and power from on high to address these things, we will carry out what we have heard to do.

We encourage all Pastors who are committed to CPP to prioritize their schedules and pray with us weekly (Thursdays at 8:00 AM beginning in January 2011) at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (211 Mt. Zion Street in Monroe). All pastors are busy but it will show the community that we believe praying together makes a difference by showing up weekly to this meeting.

When appointments begin to be made around this time it will show that we are “reserving this time for prayer together as Pastors“. We acknowledge that ALL PASTORS must miss at times but we also believe that when we do not allow anything to prevent

us from attending “on a regular basis”, we are making a statement that “PRAYER IS PRIORITY“.

There are times to get up from prayer and act but we believe we have left the PRAYER PRIORITY and now we are returning to it. There are 10-15 Pastors who have attended this prayer time over the last few years who never attend now. Those currently attending the prayer time acknowledge that “something has changed among us” who have been praying together weekly since last August and it is powerful. (Anyone is welcome to attend but no one can replace the Pastor who chooses to make this a priority in their schedule.)

Also, we will:

Cancel first Thursday prayer at Pentecostals of the Twin Cities building (most attending this meeting are attending the weekly Pastors Prayer Time). Anyone attending the 6:30 prayer time wishing to continue to meet at that time is welcome to move it to a different location.

We will not have a Super Bowl service this year. (We have had a CPP Communion service in August at Christ Church and the Fresh Encounter Conference at Cedar Crest in November).

We will have a National Day of Prayer Service May 5th.

We will pray for School Campuses in September.

We will schedule work days to do community projects approximately twice a year.

We encourage churches to have joint services.

The Mission of Community Prayer Partners:

Our Mission is to unite the body of Christ in a concerted, effectual, fervent prayer; asking God to revive His church and send spiritual awakening to all of Northeast Louisiana.

Our Covenant:

1. We covenant to pray for the students, faculty, administration, and school boards for our schools in Monroe City and Ouachita Parish, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Delta Community, Technical and Trade Schools. We will support our students as they express their faith on their school campuses.

2. We covenant to seek the face of our Heavenly Father in humility, brokenness, and repentance asking Him to revive His people and send spiritual awakening to northeast Louisiana, the United States of America and the World.

3. We covenant to participate in the National Day of Prayer.

4. We covenant to pray for the needs within the Body of Christ in Northeast Louisiana.

5. We covenant to pray for those in authority and those who risk their lives each day to protect and serve our community and nation.

6. We covenant to challenge and equip the men of northeast Louisiana to be strong Christian leaders.

Finally, we THANK GOD FOR ALL HE HAS DONE FOR US IN NELA. It is His goodness that has been shown over and over to grant us the blessings we have experienced in 2010.

CPP Prayer Meetings Prepare for Blackaby Event

On November 19th & 20th Henry Blackaby, well-known author of books such as Experiencing God and Fresh Encounter, will return to our area for a special event designed to help us promote spiritual revival in Northeast Louisiana.

To ready ourselves for Dr. Blackaby’s event, and to make the most of our desire for revival, we’re having weekly prayer meetings each Thursday at 8:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 211 Mt. Zion Street in Monroe, LA. (The one exception to this schedule is an extended time of prayer on September 23rd at 8:30 AM – this meeting will be at Seeker Springs retreat center on 1280 Okaloosa Road in Eros, Louisiana.)

During these meetings, we’re studying Dr. Blackaby’s book Fresh Encounter, one chapter each week, and then praying together for revival. We welcome all concerned church leaders to join us at these prayer meetings.

Two inspiring events happening on May 6th

Community Prayer Partners has been meeting & praying for our region for about 10 years now, and we’re now seeing some inspiring results from all those prayers.

Here are two wonderful events scheduled for the National Day of Prayer on May 6th right here in northeast Louisiana:

First, we’ll have our annual National Day of Prayer breakfast at 6:30 AM on May 6th at the West Monroe Convention Center. We’ll be inspired by some exciting praise & worship time, and then have a prayer program. Tickets, which include breakfast, are $10.00. Second, on the night of May 6th we’ll be uplifted by the Community Transformation Celebration with gospel singer Mandisa at the Monroe Civic Center at 6:30 PM. We’ll also have short video testimonies by local people whose lives have been transformed by God. Eighty-two churches are involved in this project, which will help transform our region and make it a better place to live.

American Idol “Mandisa” to Headline “Community Transformation Celebration”

Monroe/West Monroe, LA – Eighty-two local churches are sponsoring a free event featuring “American Idol” recording artist, Mandisa. This “Community Transformation Celebration” will be held at the Monroe Civic Center on Thursday night, May 6, 2010, at 6:30 p.m.

“The most astounding array of churches are coming together to transform our region in the name of Christ,” stated Larry Stafford, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Monroe. “Mainline denominations—Pentecostals, Evangelicals, Baptists, Catholics—we are bridging race, religion, and the river to come together for this cause.”

“The cause” referred to is a strategy designed to foster the spiritual, social, and economic transformation in Ouachita Parish and the surrounding region. “Pastors have been praying together for years about this” said Ike Byrd of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monroe. “It is wonderful to see the specific plan coming together in answer to our prayers.”

Economic initiatives have included pastors leading out in efforts to get new businesses to locate in Ouachita Parish and Christmas shoppers to patronize local businesses. Other community efforts have included child mentoring programs, workforce training, substance abuse programs, and clean-up days.

Efforts at social transformation have included racial reconciliation, poverty elimination efforts, and renewed calls for working together in cooperation “across the river.”

Spiritual focuses have included men’s discipleship events, evangelistic efforts, and large joint prayer meetings to bring churches together. The large event on May 6 is designed to build on past success, and enlist thousands more people in future transformational endeavors.

“God is doing extraordinary things in our community. We are looking to have 5,000 people in attendance, a 500-voice choir, and eighty-two pastors on the platform for this event,” stated Mark Foster of the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities. But as the time approaches, this goal not only seems possible, but probable.

Besides Mandisa, the program will include videos of successful transformational efforts, inspirational testimonies from local pastors, and a platform prayer with the eighty-two pastors representing eighty-two Ouachita Parish churches.

The Community Transformation Celebration is being advertised as a free event with a love offering to be taken. A time will be held at the end of the service in which participants make specific commitments to various community transformational activities.

Unity grows as 70 pastors hold press conference

Tuesday morning’s press conference featuring at least 70 area pastors (the News Star said 100) made it onto KNOE TV and into the News Star, among other outlets, probably.

You can connect with the News Star photo gallery of the event HERE and you can also go to the KNOE website and scroll through the videos on the main page to find one titled “Area Pastors Organize”. (I’m not sure how long these links will last, so you might want to bookmark or save them if possible.)

After nearly a decade of praying together, we’re seeing results. We’ve prayed for revival often, and now we’re watching God work to bring together the people and events needed to transform our communities.

It’s been a blessing for all of us to be part of it. But we must not let down now. Sometimes success is harder to manage than failure (or the status quo).

Remember… “do not give the devil a foothold” (Eph. 4:17) – which means we must “Devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Col. 4:2).

CPP joins area-wide men’s work day

Here’s an update by Dale Walker on our participation in the upcoming men’s workday on Saturday May 16th 2009:

Hey Guys,

Please talk up this Saturday’s workday in your services, classes, etc. We have a number of projects lined up and are hoping for 200 men to show up at the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities this coming Saturday at 7 AM. We will have biscuits and juice and then divide up to different work assignments.

These are some of the projects planned. There may be others and we will get the final list next Saturday AM.

Weatherize homes for elderly
Pick up trash and tires from city streets and ditches (dress appropriately)
We need between 25 – 50 men to clean up around abandoned houses in Richwood (we need 12 -15 chain saws, heavy duty weed eaters, hedge trimmers, garbage bags, etc.) We will also burn trash around these houses (without burning the houses downnnnnnnnn.)
Michael Key has asked that we help clean out a house in Tanglewood that will be used for a community center
We will do as many tasks as we have men to do
Please bring your own gloves, bug spray, drinks and snacks

EVERYONE IS ASKED TO WEAR A YELLOW SHIRT. THIS IS GOING TO BE AN ONGOING REQUEST THAT WHEN WE CHURCHES WORK TOGETHER WE ALWAYS WEAR THE “YELLOW SHIRTS”. HOPEFULLY IT WILL CATCH ON AND GOD WILL BE PRAISED BECAUSE “THOSE YELLOW SHIRTS ARE SERVING IN THE COMMUNITY AGAIN!”

We will return to the Pentecostals for Bar-B-Que chicken dinner before leaving around 1PM.
